Hand seals are based on the 12 signs of the Chinese Zodiac. Each zodiac sign represent a certain type of animal, each with its own purpose, power, style and characteristic. Hand seals are commonly in ninjutsu and kinjutsu. Combining hand seals and chakra together perfectly allow a ninja to perform certain jutsu (technique).
